In August 2015, Simone Levine became the executive director of Court Watch NOLA, a volunteer-based nonprofit organization that monitors New Orleans criminal courts. She came to Court Watch NOLA right after serving as the Deputy Police Monitor in the New Orleans Office of the Independent Police Monitor. Before that, she  served as both a prosecutor and a public defender and also as the Criminal Justice Counsel to the New York State Legislature for five years.
