Judy Chessin

Rabbi Judy Chessin is the founding Rabbi of Temple Beth Or, in Dayton and has served there since its inception in 1984. She received rabbinic ordination from the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati. In addition to serving the same congregation for over 33 years, Rabbi Chessin speaks extensively throughout Ohio in universities, churches, synagogues, and organizations on topics of Jewish interest. She is a regular instructor in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Dayton, is the president of the Synagogue Forum of Greater Dayton, and was honored as a Woman of Influence by Dayton’s Y.W.C.A. She is married to Professor Michael Cook of Hebrew Union College, and together they have two grown sons and four cats.
