In this session we will explore Jewish involvement in the organized labor movement. We will delve into its rich history in the United States by learning about the organizing led by Jewish leaders and their allies during the turn of the century through today. Why have Jewish leaders felt compelled to become labor organizers, and how has the relationship of today's Jewish community to labor shifted? Highlighting local labor organizing efforts, Rebecca Waxman will share her two-year campaign to unionize the 500 employees at the Hilton Hotel. What is the labor movement asking of the Jewish community now?
